Quarterly CBE statement must be submitted to the Central Bank by June 6

This is a requirement from the Central Bank of Brazil that applies to individuals and legal entities residing in the country that held assets overseas amounting to USD 100 million, or the corresponding amount in other currencies, as of March 31, 2022.

Assets may include: property in goods, entitlements, financial instruments, foreign exchange reserves, bank deposits, real estate properties, ownership of companies, company stocks, marketable securities, trade credits, etc.

The Central Bank collects this information for statistical purposes.

Fines

Fines provided for in the legislation – including but not limited to failing to submit the CBE statement –, range from BRL 2,500.00 to BRL 250,000.00, with a 50% increase in some cases.
